Starting in 2001, the squad, formally known as Texas Ag Elite, was a Student Organization at Texas A&M University. For 8 years, they competed as an All-Star competition cheerleading squad in the all-girl, level 6 division. In 2009, the squad was honored to be recognized as an official Sport Club through the Department of Recreational Sports. Although they admire the achievements of Aggie Athletics, the squad was, and still is, strictly a competitive cheerleading squad.
In 2010, the first ever Texas A&M Competition Squad attended Jamfest Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK and took home first place. They also had the privilege to make their collegiate "debut" and competed at the prestigious NCA Collegiate Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida and placed 5th out of 14 universities.
In 2011, Texas A&M Competition Squad competed in the first ever season of the emerging women's collegiate sport called STUNT. They competed in two STUNT tournaments in Anaheim, California and came back with 2nd and 3rd place winnings, respectively. The squad later made their second appearance in Daytona Beach, Florida at the NCA Collegiate Nationals, where they placed 5th out of 16 universities.
In 2013, Texas A&M Competition Squad participated in a triple-header STUNT competition at SMU in the Spring. Not only did the squad win all three games against SMU and Missouri Valley, but the Competiton Squad ranked 5th out of the 19 All-Girl Division I teams that competed in the 2013 season.
The 2014-2015 was the season where the squad really began to make a name for themselves. It was the most talent and drive that the squad had seen yet. There was a lot of hope for a national championship title at NCA College Nationals in Daytona, FL. The team unfortunately had some mistakes at finals, and took home 5th place in a huge division.
As of November 3, 2015, the Texas A&M Competition Squad was no more. They were extremely pleased to announce that the name had officially been changed to the Texas A&M Cheer Squad!
The newly named, Texas A&M Cheer Squad traveled back to Daytona Beach, Florida in April of 2016 for NCA Collegiate Nationals. There, history was made for the team, as they came close to a national title, placing second in their division.
The squad is well on its way to the top and hopes that this upcoming season is its year to shine. With two new coaches, and lots of young talent, the team will be heading back to Daytona in April of 2018 to take another shot at a National Champion title.
